Keepin' The Summer Alive
Beach Boys
Alternative Versions Album Trivia Website Comments and Review
The Beach Boys called back the past in an effort to rekindle the past- the cover and title attempt to rekindle the summer magic, songs were retreated from many years back (When Girls Get Together dates back from 1970), and much of the album was recorded at Western Studios, scene of their biggest hits. Brian was apparently functioning for a few sessions, but sadly, although this Dennis's last album, he doesn't appear as a composer and presumably is not too actively musically. All in all, scraps of magic do appear (Goin' On and Santa Ana Winds are strong) but the overall impression is the weakest effort since the debut album.
