Website Comments and Review

Once again, an album whose title was meant to reflect inner peace came out in a time of tumult for the band. Carl and Dennis are back in a big way- sadly, this album contains Dennis's last substantive contributions to the band, Bruce is back, but Brian is hardly there. Even so, the opener Good Timin', which dates from 1974 and is co-written by Brian, kicks the album off in fine style. However, Brian is only really back in the cover of the traditional Shortenin' Bread, a tune containing themes that resurfaced in much of Brian's later work.

Between that it is really the Dennis and Carl show, both vocally and songwriting, and much of the material is very solid, especially Baby Blue and Full Sail. The weak points of the album are the way-too-long disco version of Here Comes The Night and Sumahama, which is just too bland.

Overall, it is a bit of a hodge-podge, and the second half does lose direction, but the high points of the album are up with the best that Brian, Dennis and Carl have done.

RATING: 7 out of 10
