Website Comments and Review

This is the first official document of Brian's return to touring in 1999 and is based on two shows done especially for this recording at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles, an intimate venue. The warm audience response the performance belies the size of the venue, however, and confirms that something special is indeed happening.

Indeed this album is an excellent summary of Brian's career with a well-chosen tracklist that emphasises many of Brian's greatest songs, and includes some very solid performances. The two new Brian songs, The Isn't Love and The First Time are both worthy of their places here, and other material you won't find elsewhere include the bizarre but somewhat fitting performance of the Barenaked Ladies song Brian Wilson and the first officially released version of Brian doing his favorite song, Be My Baby.

This was also an important milestone on the route to even greater things, especially the completion and performance of SMiLE and this record should hold an important place in any Brian Wilson's fans hearts and collection. The only sour note was the multiple re-releases that blew a few holes in the pockets of completists.
